I’ll Always Leaf You: Take the Best Fall Photos on 97th

Posted On: 09/21/2020

As shorts and t-shirts change to sweaters and boots, it’s easy to mourn the loss of sunshine and the coming of the cooler weather. However, there is so much to look forward to when it comes to autumn in Griesbach! Other than the re-introduction of the pumpkin spice latte, one of the best things about the changing of the seasons is the changing of the leaves. And, the leaves on 97th street are well known and adored throughout the entire city. Here are our tips on how to get the best photo, best social media post, and best experience as you take photos of the changing leaves this year!

  1. Where to Park

If you’re hoping to get the best photos this year, you’ll likely want to park close by the leaves on 97th. It’s also important to park in a way that keeps you and others safe and doesn’t disrupt traffic. The first place to park is in Griesbach Square. This area can be busy though, and then you’ll also be able to support one of the restaurants or retail stores before or after your photo-op (there are many tasty treats in the square)! Another great spot to park is on Griesbach Road. If you’re visiting the leaves on a weekend, you can park at Major General Griesbach School, which is only a five minute walk from 97th!

  1. How to Pose

It can be difficult to find the best pose in front of the beautiful leaves, so we have a couple suggestions to make your photos fun and interesting!

  • Grab some leaves and throw them in the air, smile at the leaves as you spread your arms wide.

  • Jump as high as you can and strike a pose mid-air

  • If your group is a cohort, get as close as you can, wrapping arms around each other and smile bright. The best way to enhance a group photo is get nice and close

  • For non cohorts, embrace the space! Get close to the trees and pop out around them from 6 feet apart. Or, you can do the jumping pose from a distance!

  • Stand in a line and pop out interchanging the left and right side

If you’re looking to take some solo photos, here are some tips on taking the most flattering photos!

  • Keep your chin down and look slightly to one side, this creates more dramatic angles for your jawline!

  • Keep your hands natural. This can mean hands in your pockets, one hand on your hip and another playing with your hair, or tucked behind your back.

  • Ask your photographer to make you laugh. If you are laughing at something your face will be more relaxed, your smile natural, and your photos will look more candid

  • Try walking away and turning back towards the camera

  • Have fun! The best photos are ones where you’re clearly enjoying yourself. So, play around, act silly, and make the most of your experience!

  1. How to Post

If you’re looking to post your fantastic photos online, you’ll want to get the most out of it! There are a few things you can do!

First, tag your location as Village at Griesbach and tag Village at Griesbach’s social media!

Second, use some hashtags! Try #villageatgriesbach, #treeson97th, #villageatgriesbachFall2020 to start!

Third, post a catchy and fun description. We’ve put together some Instagram captions that will help your post shine!
