Take A Stroll Through History

Posted On: 08/29/2016

JOIN US FOR GUIDED WALKING TOURS EACH SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER FROM 1:00 TO 2:30 PM OF THE VILLAGES MOST BEAUTIFUL MILITARY TRIBUTE PARKS AND PLACES.

For decades, the land on which Village At Griesbach is located was one of Canada's busiest military bases. Before it was the home of many fortunate families, it was home to Princess Patricia's Light Infantry, The Edmonton Dragoons, The Canadian Airborne and other prominent regiments and personalities. Among these was William Antrobus Griesbach, a Major General, Canadian Senator, Member Of Parliament, Edmonton's youngest Mayor and an accomplished lawyer.

Canada Lands Company, the developer of Village At Griesbach, is committed to sharing the stories and history of this amazing place by creating beautiful tributes and legacy parks, complemented by educational displays and monuments throughout the community.

Take a guided walking tour on any Sunday from 1:00 to 2:30pm (weather permitting) this September through the amphitheatre on Patricia Lake and past the grand bronze statue of Major General Griesbach at the centre of Griesbach Parade. Visit the Bedford Basin tribute to Canada's Navy. And, finally discover Flanders Park, alive in beautiful florals and adjacent the Ad Astra monument bordering Roundel Lake, in honour of The Royal Canadian Air Force.

It's a wonderful opportunity to experience, learn or just reacquaint yourself with Canada's military history. These walking tours are free and open to the public. Please wear appropriate walking shoes and outdoor clothing. Tours are weather dependent.

Tours begin at the Major General Griesbach statue on Griesbach Parade road and ends at Flanders Park.
